Music at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Primary School
In addition to following the National Curriculum for Music, we also work closely with Dynamics – The Medway Music Education Hub CIC.
Children in Key Stage 2, take part in a Whole Class Ensemble Tuition programme led by a Licensed Music Teacher (LMT) from Dynamics. Over the years, through this programme, the children have had opportunities to learn the ocarina, recorder, voice instrument (singing) and even one year - djembe drums. The children thoroughly enjoy this experience and have opportunities to share their learning to the other children through ensemble performances during assembly.
In Key Stage 1, the children take part in an 8 week project led by a Licensed Music Teacher (LMT) from Dynamics, where they explore a range of classroom instruments and cover the different strands of the music curriculum - Listening and responding • Performing • Composing.
We also promote Dynamic's partnership with the Medway Music Association.
Medway Music Association (MMA) provide first class music opportunities for young people in our area. As well as hosting a Saturday Music Centre and Medway Youth Orchestra, MMA hold regular music courses during school holidays - information is sent out to parents/carers through ParentMail.
